“I hope you know that every time you use disinterested to mean uninterested an angel dies, and every time you write very unique or ‘We will hire whomever is more qualified,’ thousands of literate people lose yet another smidgen of hope.”
—Roy Blount, Jr., Alphabet Juice
Since I was a little girl, I have been finding and correcting typos and misplaced commas and apostrophes on advertisements, in publications, and even on the sides of buildings. I cringe when I hear who instead of whom or read that people were so effected by the story they heard. This passion has led me to a career as an editor.
For more than 20 years, I have edited everything from newsletters and magazines to books to websites and online content to business proposals, social media content and social justice communications. I have worked with small nonprofits, major publishing houses, communications firms and everything in between, including collaborating with authors and fellow editors. My numerous roles include managing editor, senior editor, layout editor and freelance editor.
I continually become an instant expert on the subject matter and editorial style at hand, and I deliver clean, well-written copy in a timely manner that is ready for publication. No matter the type of publication – whether small or large – I ensure that it is editorially mastered before going to live or to press.
I also am passionate about using my editorial skills to support organizations in their efforts to make an impact and effect change.
